Within music, a suite is an unionized placed of instrumental or orchestral pieces normally performed at one sitting. Bach & Handel oft added extra pieces between a sarabande & jig; Handel wrote Xxii keyboard suites, when Bach produced multiple suites for cello, violin, flute, and more instruments, besides when his French suites and English suites for keyboard. For Bach especially, the suite form was a base in which to spin further elaborate sequences.
Per 1750s however, the suite experienced are to become seen when old-fashioned, superseded per symphony and concerto, and i personally understand couple of composers however writing suites. In the 19th century the term made the comeback, however at present meaning either an implemental choice from either the big operate like an opera or ballet, a sequence of little pieces attached together by a most common theme, like the nationalistic ideas of Grieg, Sibelius, or Tchaikovsky, or when a studied archaicism, as in the recent Suite for Flute & Jazz Piano by Claude Bolling.
